PHILIPSBURG--The St. Maarten Police Force KPSM arrested a man early Friday morning in connection with the ongoing investigation into the shooting that took place in Dutch Quarter on Saturday, October 12.

  In the shooting, a man C.W. had been gunned down by an unknown assailant. He was found next to a car believed to his, bleeding from several close-range gunshot wounds and not showing any signs of life. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

  As of Friday night, police are unwilling to confirm the identity of the arrested man, and whether he is suspected of being the gunman or an accomplice. However, police have confirmed that he is a “middle-aged” man. The Daily Herald understands the man is suspected of being the shooter.

  More information about this investigation will be given in the future, said police in a press release.

  The suspect is currently being held at the Philipsburg police station for further investigation, according to police.
