ST. EUSTATIUS--The St. Eustatius Cancer Care and Awareness Foundation will open its new office on Emmaweg 2, Upper Town, on Friday.

“Now, at last, we have an address where anybody can drop in for a chat and explore the possibilities. When patients first learn that they have the disease they naturally imagine the worst ... The news can worsen the healing process even though many medical treatments and breakthroughs are available,” said Foundation Chairwoman Ebbie Schmidt.

Foundation President Militza Connell-Maduro said: “We are creating a platform to make everybody on Statia aware of the increasing choice of options and to foster good relations between the public and the medical community.”

For the past five years, the foundation has been counselling cancer patients, providing motivation and sharing information about treatment options.

Statia residents are invited by the foundation to the office opening ceremony at 4:30pm. The new office is in front of the museum.
