The best hope for 2019 and beyond

Dear Editor,

First let me wish all people living in St. Maarten health, prosperity, wealth and peace for this New year 2019.

New year comes with new hope and new beginnings. But I have the answer for all hope for this year and the balance of your life.

Climate change cannot make the world a better place, banning plastic cannot make the world a better place. The real hope is for men to change their hearts and minds.

Education is important and is needed, but that cannot make the world a better place. Making more money is good and can buy lots of pleasure; that too cannot make the world a better place.

The secret is the heart of man.

The heart of man as described in the Bible is primarily a spiritual organ that drives man’s behavior.

We know that the heart is the starting place for spiritual life because of what the Bible says about God’s actions toward the human heart.

We want to believe that people, in their hearts, are essentially good and that they must be coerced or victimized or provoked into bad behavior. However, Jesus said the opposite: that sins like evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance, and foolishness, actually originate in the heart of man (Mark 7:21-23). Humanity has a heart problem and needs a heart transplant.

Spiritual life begins in the heart, and it begins with God. I come to realize that the world will not get better because we omit God.

In fact, Satan is ruling the world presently. 2 Corinthians 4:4 – Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.

When we elect politicians who do not believe in God or who do not fear God, you just set yourself up for failure.

Leadership without the fear of God is doomed to fail. Loving skin color cannot save you. Color is not more important than righteousness for all the racist people in the world.

The victim mentality and blaming the past for who you are today cannot make the world better.

Man’s problem is we have the understanding darkened, being alienate from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart.

The conclusion is to change your heart to do good, the heart and mind work together, let Christ live in your heart.

That is the best hope for 2019 and the balance of your life. Keep hope alive and remember “the best is yet to come,” Jesus Christ.
