PHILIPSBURG--Windward Islands Bank (WIB) staffers filled 23 bags of trash during a clean-up exercise held near the Government Administration Building and on “Ring Road” between utilities company GEBE and Blue Point, on Saturday May 18.
Trash picked up included plastic, aluminium cans and glass bottles. A total of 23 construction bags were filled and discarded.
The clean-up exercise was organised to keep the country clean, free of debris and to prevent drainages from being blocked. During the exercise, WIB staffers encountered two good Samaritans, one of whom offered a case of water to the volunteers and the other who promised coconut water. “WIB employees had a great time and felt positive to have assisted with the clean-up,” the bank said in a press release on Friday. The bank urges the community to practice recycling and to place their trash in a dumpster.
