Anguilla cancels Summer Festival

Anguilla cancels Summer Festival

ANGUILLA--It was announced by the Summer Festival Committee and the Department of Youth and Culture that in light of the ongoing COVID-19 virus the Executive Council has decided that, although it is a difficult decision, the staging of the Anguilla Summer Festival 2020 is cancelled.

The Committee had already begun planning for this year’s Festival even as it became increasingly apparent that it was unlikely to be “business as usual”. After several meetings, the committee was able to formulate three possible scenarios, the most likely of which would be the cancellation of the annual celebration. As it turns out this is the scenario that has played out.

The Committee is advising that planning for Summer Festival 2021 is ongoing and groups and individuals interested in volunteering their services to the sub-committees or participating in any event are encouraged to contact the chairperson.
