Maayke Martina-de Haan

PHILIPSBURG--AntillesRealty representative Maayke Martina-de Haan, recently attended and made a presentation at the sixteenth annual Luxury Real Estate Spring Retreat in South Beach, Florida.

She was the first speaker at the retreat following a session of the Board of Regents of which AntillesRealty is member. She spoke of the post-Hurricane Irma progress, investment opportunities here, issues relating to real estate brokers operating in natural-disaster-prone areas and how to adjust business to continue when faced with challenges.

Martina-de Haan said she was honoured to speak to some of the most prominent realtors in the United States about St. Maarten/St. Martin and Irma’s effects as well as to update AntillesRealty’s network about the situation here and to share her experiences on running a business in a natural-disaster area.

“At AntillesRealty, we continue to put St. Maarten on the map internationally in a positive light and continue to educate ourselves and bring home the latest marketing technologies in our field to better serve our clients.

“The positive reactions and discussions after the presentation have confirmed to me that investors and professionals keep believing in the value of the Caribbean. We, as an island, have to continue showing strength and leadership to show that indeed the expectations of the general international real estate professionals are affirmed that we will come out of this disaster better and stronger,” she said.

General sessions started after Martina-de Haan’s update. Featured speakers included brand consultant and author Bruce Turkel and keynote speaker Peter Ricchiuti, an economist, professor and author.

The Audrey Ross Team of Compass hosted a guided tour of two of the best properties listed for sale in Miami, after which realtors toured two yachts HMY Yacht Sales has available on the market.

The Spring Retreat ended with a Cuban-themed party honouring Lifetime Achievement Award recipients Dale and Matilde Sorensen for their accomplishments in the industry.
