Arrindell, Chittick proposed as CEO and COO of GEBE

PHILIPSBURG--GEBE’s supervisory board made a surprise move and proposed its Commercial Manager Iris Arrindell as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and Power Plant Manager Kenrick Chittick as Chief Operations Officer (COO) of the company.

The board forwarded the proposal to the shareholder representative this week and the Council of Ministers will meet on the proposal today, Thursday. According to a source close to the board, the decision to appoint the two managers came recently after they have been filling in as the managing board of the company in the absence of Acting Manager Andrew Zagers.

Minister of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure VROMI Angel Meyers told The Daily Herald in May that the Corporate Governance Council (CGC) had approved the nominations of William Brooks as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GEBE and Veronica Jansen-Webster as the Chief Operations Officer (COO). He said the shareholder had just needed to provide some additional information on one of the candidates, which he believes was already provided.

The issue facing the company now is that Brooks has been on sick leave since being appointed and the screening process has not yet been completed to appoint Webster to the COO position, leaving the company without a management team. Meyers said on Wednesday that the Council would discuss the board’s nominations.

The new supervisory board decided to go another direction, and appoint two GEBE mid- level managers to the top positions.
