ST. EUSTATIUS--Coronavirus COVID-19 caused the funeral service of prominent businessman Kethe Randolph Hendrickson (70) to take place under different conditions. Normally, a large gathering would have been present during the funeral and procession, but due to social-distancing guidelines only fifteen persons were invited to the funeral with a service held at Queen Beatrix Medical Centre’s morgue, followed by the burial at the Roman Catholic cemetery.
Hendrickson passed away April 3 after a long illness. The intimate homegoing service was attended by family members and close personal friends. The funeral service was broadcast live on Facebook.
Hendrickson was born in St. Kitts on January 25, 1950. He leaves to mourn his wife. local calypso legend Romania Othelia “Sexy Mona” Hendrickson-Duinkerk, and their seven children, two adopted children and nine grandchildren.
Hendrickson was a former pastor of the Apostolic Faith Mission Church and a member of the St. Eustatius Lions Club.
He worked in construction in St. Kitts since the 1970s, and in 1992 he opened Hendrickson Construction NV/Car Rentals in St. Eustatius.

He was a photographer and video recorder and was known for his love of dancing, the “Electric Slide” being his big favourite. He never missed the opportunity to hit the dance floor and show his moves.
In tribute to Hendrickson, family members and friends danced the “Electric Boogie” by Marcia Griffiths at the gravesite to send him home.
Roman Catholic priest Simon Wilson performed the burial ceremony.
Hendrickson’s death was not related to the coronavirus.
