Gendarmerie calls arrest of burglary suspect ‘significant’

MARIGOT--The Gendarmerie indicated it had arrested an individual on Monday evening at around 7:00pm in Marigot near Super U, who is suspected of committing multiple home burglaries.

Commandant Sébastien Manzoni said the suspect is a repeat offender who has already been in detention, and is suspected of committing up to as many as 10 home burglaries on the French side over the past six to 12 months.

The suspect is in custody, but due to be released and transferred to Guadeloupe today Wednesday.

“This was the result of a diligent and very good scientific and forensic investigation,” said Manzoni. “The arrest has important implications because it may be able to tell us more about other perpetrators.”

The arrest was made by the unit Peloton de Surveillance et Intervention de la Gendarmerie (PSIG).
