COLE BAY--The Fourth of July is a huge holiday in the United States. This year in St. Maarten, the date has a new significance and ends much anticipation with the reopening of Caribbean Cinemas Megaplex 7 after a ten-month forced closure due to damage caused by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. Damage was extensive and in excess of US $2.7 million.
As part of the opening week schedule, Caribbean Cinemas will screen “Avengers: Infinity War,” “Incredibles 2,” “Adrift,” “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” “Deadpool 2,” “Breaking In,” “Rampage” and “Ocean’s 8.”
For the summer school holidays, weekday shows will start at 4:00pm and weekends will continue as before with shows from 2:00pm.
The prices for regular tickets are US $8.50 for adults, US $5 for children and US $6.50 for senior citizens. For 3D movies, the cost of the ticket is: US $9 for adults, US $6.25 for children and US $7.75 for seniors.
Caribbean Cinemas will continue to hold its “Customer Appreciation Day” with discounted rates every Tuesday. Regular tickets will cost US $5 each for everyone and 3D movies will be US $6.25 for everyone.
The theatre management and staff are “very enthusiastic” to welcome back their clientele.
The opening of the fully-remodelled cinema features new leather high back rocking chairs with added legroom and cup-holder armrests in all seven auditoriums. There are improvements in two additional auditoriums which now feature “stadium seating” for a total of four stadium-seating auditoriums with enhanced viewing. In the non-stadium auditoriums, clients see new seating configurations with side aisles only.
The remodelled cinema is fully equipped with 100-per-cent digital projection, 3D technology, high-definition surround sound and a deli café.
Caribbean Cinemas will introduce online ticketing and reserved seating on all four stadium seating auditoriums, which allows clients to purchase tickets in advance and choose their favourite seat.
Caribbean Cinemas acknowledges the support of insurance company NAGICO in the recovery from the damages sustained by its building from the hurricanes.
