PHILIPSBURG--The St. Maarten Police Force KPSM arrested two men, U.D.T. and L.P., for breaking into a minimarket on Boardwalk Boulevard around 1:00am Monday.
According to police, officers were conducting a routine patrol on Boardwalk Boulevard when they heard movement in one of the stores. While checking the entrance of the minimarket, officers saw that someone had cut the padlock and made their way into the store.
The officers decided to enter the business themselves to investigate what had taken place. Inside they saw two men trying to hide in the darkness. The officers also noticed that the men had placed several bags of food and other consumer goods on the ground, ready to be taken away.
T. and P. were immediately arrested and taken to the Philipsburg police station, where they are being held for questioning.
