ST. EUSTATIUS--Deputy Government Commissioner Alida Francis said a Housing and Living project team was installed on Monday. The team’s main objective is to improve social housing in St. Eustatius.

The team is tasked with presenting an evaluation system for the regulation of rental subsidy and forming a rental advisory committee. The committee will also consider other matters concerning public housing.

“We are well aware that for the past many years housing on St. Eustatius needed to be properly regulated and, therefore, as a public entity we have brought all the stakeholders on the table to see how we can affect and improve housing and living, especially for the most vulnerable among us on the island,” Francis said.

The project team consists of chairman Luutsen de Vries; Directorate of Economy, Nature and Infrastructure senior policy advisor Maldwyn Timber; Directorate of the Social Domain policy advisor Elizabeth Jones; St. Eustatius Housing Foundation interim director Jacquil Pandt; Finance Unit senior policy advisor Myrurgea Schmidt; and Monique Brown and Darold Doest of the Department of Legal Affairs.
