SURFACE WINDS: 
This afternoon through Monday midday: Easterly to northeasterly with a gentle to moderate breeze of 09 to 16 mph.   

    

SYNOPSIS:     

The atmosphere over the region has become relatively stable in the wake of Tropical Storm Laura. However, lingering moisture may cause a few passing showers.    

Seas are expected to peak near 7 feet during the next 24 hours. Small craft operators and sea bathers should continue to exercise caution.  

   

STATE OF THE SEA: Moderate       WAVES/SWELLS: 5 to 7 feet   

    

SPECIAL FEATURE:   

At 11am, the center of Tropical Storm Laura was located about 660 miles west of St. Maarten. Laura is moving toward the west northwest (away from St. Maarten) at 21 mph. Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph with higher gusts. Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 140 miles from the center.   

 

THE METEOROLOGICAL DEPARTMENT OF ST. MAARTEN WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR THIS SYSTEM AND UPDATE THE PUBLIC ACCORDINGLY.   

 

OUTLOOK through Tuesday midday: Partly cloudy with a few showers.
