Raids at homes Schotte, Cooper

WILLEMSTAD--This morning Curaçao auhotiries conducted three searches in connection with the bribery complaint of MAN-parliamentarian Yeal Plet. Two of the raids took place at the house of former Prime Minister and MFK-fraction leader Gerrit Schotte and that of former MAN-minister of Charles Cooper, who since formed his own PAS party but for the April 28 elections joined up with MFK.

Plet had filed a complaint about attempted bribery on February 22 this year. According to him, he was approached by an intermediary to resign from MAN, take his parliamentary seat and become an independent member to support the then MFK-led opposition in exchange for money.
The Public Prosecutor's Office confirmed that these three raids were taking place.
