Tourism and Economic Affairs Minister Stuart Johnson recently visited the Yacht Club Port de Plaisance where he discussed preparation for the mega-yacht high season with Jeff Boyd of the marina. Boyd explained the damage the marina had sustained during the 2017 hurricanes that led to the redesign, repair and expansion work to accommodate mega-yachts.
Boyd said he looks forward to a continued working relationship with Johnson. The mega-yacht industry has played and continues to play a vital role in providing St. Maarten with a unique quality of visitors, said Johnson, who will attend the Antigua Charter Yacht Show this week. The Yacht Club will host an event featuring “all that St. Maarten has to offer.” Johnson is a featured speaker at the captains’ dinner.
