Port St. Maarten and family members of the late Dr. Claude Wathey placed flowers at his statues in Philipsburg on Friday, July 24, which would have been his 94th birthday.
Wathey’s political leadership from the 1950s to the early 1990s saw St. Maarten transform into a vibrant tourist economy.
