Residents of Dutch Quarter and surrounding areas attended a town hall meeting about the 10th European Development Fund (EDF)-funded sewage project in Dutch Quarter at the Dutch Quarter Community Centre on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Leona Romeo-Marlin, Infrastructure Minister Miklos Giterson and other officials provided information on the project. The meeting, organised by the Departments of Interior and Kingdom Relations and New Projects, was a follow-up to an earlier dialogue with residents. St. Maarten and the European Commission (EC) signed the financing agreement, which outlined a co-financing structure with a contribution of 4.75 million euros. Government has signed the works contract with Van Boekel Bouw and Infra BV. Construction is to start in the summer.
