Small Properties Association President Nzinga Lake presents the association’s damage assessment report and marketing plan to Tourism and Economic Affairs Minister Cornelius de Weever.
POND ISLAND--St. Maarten Small Properties Association (SMSPA) presented its damage assessment report and marketing plan recently to Tourism and Economic Affairs Minister Cornelius de Weever.
The association had outlined to De Weever a month ago its members’ challenges and sought government’s support for tax holidays, tax reduction, low interest loans, and consultation to improve properties. The group also hopes to tap into government’s roof repair programme.
“The idea is also to take advantage of key opportunities available by partnering to empower and motivate our members through trainings, product development, and promoting their properties and our island destination” said Association President Nzinga Lake.
The association plans to continue to work on open and concrete discussions with, among others, the Ministry of Tourism, Tourism Bureau, St. Maarten Tourism Authority (STA), St. Maarten Chamber of Commerce and Industry (COCI), Bankers Association, Port St. Maarten, and Airlines.
SMSPA was granted a subsidy of NAf. 40,000 from government. The association plans to use the funds for marketing and other events aimed at promoting its member properties in attracting guests and in their further growth.
