POND ISLAND--Economic Affairs Minister Stuart Johnson urges the community to give its full support to the ongoing Labour Force Survey (LFS) of the Department of Statistics STAT, a division of the Ministry of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunications.
A total of 1,300 households were randomly selected for the survey. Thirteen STAT interviewers are conducting interviews with those household members as of September 24. Survey participation is mandatory for the selected households, according to the country’s laws. Information collected is confidential. The survey duration is eight weeks.
“It’s a civic duty to give your cooperation when interviewers coming knocking at your door,” said Johnson in a press statement on Monday. “These surveys are necessary in order to gather information about our society, the labour market and economy.”
The information gathered in the survey will help government and its entities to understand the labour market and economy and to plan accordingly. Information is also important for international institutions such as the International Labour Organisation, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in their reviews and projects in or related to the county.
