Both schools have arranged classrooms to allow social distancing among students.
CAY HILL/ST PETERS--The Hillside Christian Schools opened their doors on Tuesday, October 20, welcoming back pupils with the group eight classes.
The schools are just two of the six primary schools and one high school that have resumed face-to-face learning this week.
Both campuses resumed on Tuesday, allowing the exam classes to return to in-class instruction. Pupils were met with a much different set up once in class as both schools made the necessary preparations for their return.
Both schools were prepared according to the school’s safety plan. Having passed inspections from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport (ECYS) last week, the schools were able to welcome back its students.
Within the classrooms tables and chairs have been arranged with social distancing in mind; each classroom will be arranged with social distancing in mind; desks facing forward, in lines, with ample space in between each desk. Each classroom has sinks for washing hands with information posters to encourage proper hand hygiene.
School Principal Blondel Sprott-Mussington told The Daily Herald on Tuesday that the majority of the schools’ pupils returned on the first day of school on campus. She shared that the pupils were happy to be back in the classrooms.
At the Asha Stevens School in Cay Hill, 96 per cent of its pupils within the group returned. At the Helmich Snijders School in St. Peters, 88 per cent of the group eight pupils returned on Tuesday.
