Support European reps

Prime Minister Leona Romeo-Marlin (left) met three Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), Esther de Lange (right), Agnes Jongerius and Lambert van Nistelrooij, while in Brussels, Belgium. The meeting was a follow-up on a commitment made between the European Parliament and European Commission to as much as possible treat St. Martin and St. Maarten on an equal level in their recovery efforts post-Hurricane Irma.

This position was stressed by Dutch State Secretary Raymond Knops and a letter was sent to the European Parliament stating that it has been observed that the agreement has not yet been fulfilled. The MEPs promised to stay on top of the topic, as they aware that both sides of the island have European citizens and should be treated as equals in these times of recovery after a disaster.
