Tourism awareness

St. Maarten Tourist Bureau (STB) representative Lisa Noel spoke this week to St. Maarten Vocation Training School’s Group 4 Business Administration class about the country’s tourism-driven economy.

This was part of the bureau’s continued efforts to bring greater awareness about tourism to students. Through the interactive presentation, Noel tested students’ knowledge about the industry while teaching them how they can play a role in helping to shape the country’s main industry. They were rewarded with STB T-shirts and information pamphlets. Tourism and Economic Affairs Minister Cornelius de Weever said Thursday, “The values of our tourism economy need to be instilled into our education system and the approach by STB at this stage is a great start. The bureau will continue to work with elementary and high schools to achieve its awareness goals.
