UPDATE: Carjacker causes major damage in Cole Bay district Wednesday

COLE BAY--Police are searching for a man who stole a black SUV in Cay Bay/Cole Bay on Wednesday afternoon and caused havoc in those areas while trying to escape from lawmen.


The SUV was reported stolen and police officers spotted the vehicle on Welfare Road in Cole Bay. A high speed chase commenced and in the process, SUV severely damaged approximately eight vehicles with police vehicles on its tail.
Officers fired several shots towards the vehicle, which turned onto Windsor Road and eventually came to a halt. The man jumped out of the damaged stolen vehicle, ran towards the wooden and concrete homes and made his way onto the rooftops. Police officers lost him after a short foot chase.
Police spokesman Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson informed The Daily Herald Wednesday afternoon that the man had caused major damage to other vehicles and police are investigating the incident. No persons were hurt during the chase.
The police are asking anyone who might have seen the driver of the stolen vehicle to contact police.
