UPDATE: Gibson hospitalized after collapsing at work

PHILIPSBURG--Finance Minister Richard Gibson was hospitalized on Monday after he collapsed at work. High blood pressure is said to be the cause of his collapse. He was rushed to St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) by ambulance.

Gibson’s hospitalization was announced to the press by Prime Minister William Marlin during a tour of the new Government Administration Building on Pond Island.

The Finance Minister had announced last week he and his ministry were “extremely busy” with preparations for the draft 2017 budget.

Gibson is known as a very dedicated and detail-oriented man, both in his practice as an attorney and businessman as well as in his current and past posts as minister.
