PORT OF SPAIN--Prime Minister Keith Rowley, has announced that three new European countries have been added to the existing list of five countries whose travellers have been banned from entering T&T within a 14-day period. In a media conference following his trip to Ghana, Rowley announced that France, Germany and Spain have been added to the list.
These countries join Singapore, Italy, South Korea, Iran and Japan. China, where the virus originated, also has the ban implemented.
Rowley also asserted that while the US and other territories have implemented compensation plans for citizens affected by the virus, these conditions won't apply if the virus makes its way to T&T. He reminded citizens that, unlike other nations, T&T already has a paid sick leave policy that should cover citizens in the event that they are infected.
He added that different measures could come on stream depending on the virus' severity in T&T. As of Tuesday, March 10, Trinidad and Tobago has no confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus.
