Borussia Dortmund's Pulisic named USA Player of Year

NEW YORK- - Teenage midfielder Christian Pulisic was named as the U.S. male Player of the Year on Thursday, becoming the youngest to win the award.

Landon Donovan was the previous youngest winner. He was 21 when he won in 2003.
The 19-year-old Pulisic achieved 94 percent of the votes collected from the men's national team players and coaches, domestic league head coaches, former players, administrators and the media.
"It's something that I never could have imagined to be here in this position," the Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder said. "I'm thankful for everyone who supported me and I'm excited for the future."
Pulisic's performances were the highlight of an otherwise crushingly disappointing year for the U.S. national team, who failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup finals.
Pulisic recorded six goals and four assists in nine matches, and was involved in 13 of the 17 goals scored during matches in which he played this year.
