ANGUILLA—The first Duke of Edinburgh Cup qualifying round held in Anguilla on Saturday attracted 22 players. The winner was Nathalie le Senechal who had 43 points with Tony Edwards in second place with 40 points. A total of US$4,500 was raised for charities in Anguilla.
Both players received crystal trophies presented by Governor Dileeni Daniel Selvaratnam and Duke of Edinburgh trustee Nick Pyle. They now have an invitation to play in the Duke of Edinburgh World Cup Finals in England later this year.
The Duke of Edinburgh Cup is an annual international series of golf events run by International Golf for Youth. The tournaments are run as a handicap competition to Stableford format and played under the R&A (Royal and Ancient Golf Club) and USGA (United States Golf Association) rules.
The finalists have all expenses paid including air fare, hotel accommodation, transportation, welcome dinner, three rounds of golf and the prize giving dinner in Windsor Castle. The 36 hole final takes place over two days on prestigious golf courses close to London. There is also an additional friendly match with members of the Royal Household Golf Club, the private course at Windsor Castle. The black-tie prize giving also takes place at Windsor Castle in the presence of a member of the Royal Family.
