Sir Emile Round-the –Island Boat Race won by Sonic

ANGUILLA—Nine boats left Sandy Ground for the Anguilla Day boat race round the island and six boats finished after six hours of sailing. Sonic was the first boat at the winning post, followed by Light and Peace, De Tree, Satellite and UFO.


There were three mishaps with Real Deal sinking off Flat Cap but it was recovered and no one was hurt. Speed and Comfort and Bluebird turned back.
The Sonic, in addition to receiving EC $10,000 in prize money, will also have its name added to the Chief Minister’s Cup. Prize money for second to fifth place winners ranged from EC$8,500 EC to EC$5, 500 with the remaining boats each receiving EC$3000.
This race is the third Class A boat race this year where points are awarded to determine the overall winner later in the year after the August week races.
