Cardio or weights while losing weight?

Hi, my name is Desiree Winkel, owner and founder of Fitness Coaching. I’ve been working for years in my own personal training studio with clients who like to get fit and healthy, and even those who are in pain. My clients love to train in a cosy, clean, and absolutely friendly atmosphere. Follow what we do on Facebook.

It often happens that friends, clients or random people will ask me why they got so flabby after losing weight. They diet, do cardio but still have a lot of loose skin. It is my personal opinion that although persons often put a lot of time and effort into losing the weight, they do it the wrong way. Don’t get me wrong. Once your mind is on changing your body for the best, I give you two thumbs up. That you do cardio is great, especially for your cardio vascular health.

The great thing about working with weights while you are losing weight is the fact that your skin and muscles are getting tight at the same time that you are losing the weight. I train my clients with some cardio if their goal is to lose weight. However, I calculate the time of the cardio so I make sure I don’t break the muscle tissue instead of building it up.

A personal trainer should know exactly what your body needs. Forgive me for saying this, but it’s the unfortunate truth: These days we have so many “personal trainers” – at least that’s what they call themselves – how is it that bodybuilders can train clients without having knowledge of the body?! Do you go to an orthopaedic surgeon who never went to school for that? Enough about that; it all comes to one thing: Do you know what you are doing if you want to reach a certain goal? Why put time and money into the wrong exercise or supplements?

If you have that goal to lose weight, how great it would feel! Here are some tips to kick start it.

  • Make sure your mind is ready to do this.
  • Talk to a health specialist or your personal trainer about what to eat.
  • Make a realistic plan for your fitness goals.
  • Set goals, e.g., a weight-loss measurement plan, outlining how much you have to lose and when.
  • Clean out your fridge and kitchen cabinets before you start.
  • Get that outfit ready that you love to wear but it does not fit yet.
  • Inform your friends and family so they can support you during your weight-loss journey.
  • Give yourself about three to six months. BE REALISTIC.
  • Trust the process!

Hope this helps you a little in your fitness journey. I would be happy to help you. Enjoy your Carnival break and after that, remember, it’s time! Enjoy your fabulous life.

Conclusion: Spend time, change habits and live happy for you and your children. Let me help you!
