~ Four hands massage is the ultimate luxury ~
During a recent visit to Good Life Spa in Maho for my routine leg wax and pedicure, I looked through their brochure to pass the time. I was amazed to see something there called “The Heavenly Four Hands Massage” - could this be true? I thought I had imagined this as my own personal fantasy – two massage therapists mirroring each other’s movements – both sides of my body experiencing the same techniques at the same time! I had dreamed of such a thing, telling myself if I was ever really, really rich I would have identical twin massage therapists on stand-by at all times.
Well, I may not be really rich and they may not be twins – but as far as I am concerned my dream has become reality. I booked the treatment with great excitement to finally experience my ultimate luxury. For only US $180 two massage therapists will work together for 55 minutes to create balance and calm throughout the client’s body.
The changing room is large and inviting – offering mirrors, hanging lockers, showers with towels, a hair dryer and robes to wear while in between treatments. Many clients choose to spend the day at Good Life Spa, enjoying packages or the wet area, where one can swim or soak or lounge on submerged chaises, where water jets throughout the surface.
Patricia and Yanique prepared my room and invited me in. Cool and dark, gentle music and flickering candles set the mood for peaceful comfort. A large padded table was ready for me with clean white sheets. There was a round pillow for my face and we began with me facedown and covered only by the thin cotton sheet. The therapists worked in unison, one at my head and neck the other caressing my feet. Then they shifted, one to my right and the other to my left. The mirror effect was so wonderful, across both shoulders simultaneously. My mind repeated, “I don’t deserve such royal treatment; this is just too perfect for words.” The other part of my mind said, “Just enjoy it, relax, let go all your stress, enjoy...” Then my mind stilled and I drifted off into Nirvana. Not the rock band, but the real place, floating along the clouds, free and serene.
Time passes slowly when you are under the care of four choreographed hands. Patricia and Yanique told me later that they had trained to match their movements and pressures, using the rhythms of their hands to promote balanced energy throughout and deep, healing relaxation. I noticed a particularly effective technique: while one was taking her time with reflexology of the feet, the other offered deep pressure along the regions of the body that correlate to the zones of the foot. I turned onto my back and received more dedicated attention to my quads, calves, feet, arms, hands, shoulders, neck, and even my face and head.
All good things come to an end, but the four hands massage is truly heavenly and I plan to pamper myself with this treatment more often. Husbands, take note: this is the gift that will keep on giving. Your wife, mother, sister or friend – anyone will be endlessly grateful for such a thoughtful and loving gift. And Good Life Spa makes it so easy to enjoy a day of beauty and health. There is no downside.
