Healthier Youth

It is the dawn of a new era. The youth are more conscious of their surroundings. There is a booming amount of information readily available for consumption and millennials are eating it up.

They understand more about the harmful effects of bad foods, and are continually searching for healthier alternatives. Thanks to documentaries and videos about healthy eating, the new tech-savvy generation is bombarded with information. Vegetarianism, veganism and exercise blogs are on the rise and for good reason. There is an abundance of resources for those who want to get healthier.

Has the generation of “me” unlocked the secret of avoiding diseases and healthier lifestyles? Another example of this is the newer, more accepting behaviour of people with different body-types. This manifests itself through a great surge of full-bodied models in magazines, music videos and even the catwalks. This may be the generation of self-awareness, but is that such a bad thing? They acknowledge different types of people and accept them as a norm, and allow different people to feel good about themselves. Being healthy goes beyond the physical, it’s also mental. Millennials understand that and refuse to accept anything other than that. Younger celebrities can be seen standing up to Photoshop editors on their social media feeds, challenging the previous notions that all young people want to do is be attractive. They demand more from the previous generations and are paving the way to healthier body images.
