Is it simple to lose that extra weight that we so peacefully put on over the Christmas and New Year period? Yes, yes and yes! With the tips I give them, most of my clients should agree that with a little bit of determination and willpower, you could lose the weight within a couple of weeks. But that is exactly why some people cannot lose the weight they want to – willpower!
Willpower is the number one thing you really need in order to reach your goals. I never really understand the people who say they want to lose the weight and then sign up for classes, but then they eat whatever they want or worse – they do not even show up for their classes. The way I see it, they never really wanted it, because we all know if you really want something, it is possible.
Who doesn’t want to eat whatever they want?! Who doesn’t want to lose weight by doing nothing in particular?! Unfortunately, it takes effort and time to create the body you want. Or should I say, it takes effort and time to create the body you deserve! It’s a mindset, people. You just owe it to yourself and NOBODY else to feel great, happy and healthy.
How great it is to stand in front of your closet and have to go out that night wearing anything you want because you just know it all looks great on you! Trust me; I know how that feels. However, I also know how it feels to stand in front of that same closet and take out every single piece and get more and more upset along the way because nothing feels right to wear. Now, who’s to blame? I’m the one, because I was the one who ate the entire liquorish bag empty… and trust me; I felt so sorry for myself.
Now, this is what we are all going to do for now – yes, you too – no excuses; no but; just do it and I promise you will feel great in no time.
- Right after waking up, drink two glasses of water.
- Do some light stretches for about 3 to 5 minutes before you shower.
- Eat a healthy breakfast (oatmeal, fruits and seeds, crackers or bread with something healthy). This is your most important meal of the day – DO NOT SKIP THIS!
- Drink plenty of water during the day – minimum 2.5 litres.
- Walk and stand more during the day. Park your car further away so you are forced to make extra miles.
- If possible, walk for 20 minutes three times a week.
- Eat a healthy lunch with loads of vegetables, little healthy (complex) carbs, some fish, chicken, light meat or vegetarian.
- Look in the mirror a couple of times a day and admire your beauty – smile.
- Eat a very light dinner with salad and vegetables.
- Try not to snack on unhealthy things, but take nuts or a protein shake instead.
- Hit the gym, the pool, the tennis court, the yoga studio, the football court or any sportive activity at least three times a week for an hour.
- Sleep at least seven to eight hours and make sure that you have as little in your bedroom as possible (no TV, no phone or any other disturbing creature).
- Reward yourself for every week you did really well!
