What can I do to get rid of my acne?

Global Health

From Neil Patel D.C.

Acne is one of those chronic diseases that is highly associated with a Western diet. Numerous research studies exist on Pubmed.gov that diets high in refined carbohydrates, sugars, grains and milk deteriorate the health of the skin as well as overall health. In order to restore healthier looking skin, the diet and gastrointestinal tract need to be addressed.

Refined carbs, sugar, grains and milk will compromise the health of the gut bacteria and start an inflammatory process of the tract itself. Dysbiosis and leaks in the gut affect organs like skin and cause systemic infections. The skin is a big elimination organ that is a reflection of gastrointestinal tract health due to the fact that it feeds the entire body.

Nonetheless, pro-inflammatory foods (refined carbs, sugar, grains and milk) cause a quick rise in insulin and insulin-like growth factor. This causes hormones to rage, which leads the pores to secrete sebum and attract bacteria forming skin lesions.

In order to restore health to the skin, you must eat clean and make sure to have proper bacteria in the gut. Most individuals with acne will have moulds, bad bacteria, parasites and/or yeast invading their gastrointestinal tract. Make sure this is addressed with a health care practitioner or it will never get better.

This is just another one of those diseases easily addressed with good nutrition or clean eating and probiotics to maintain a healthy gut. Acne or unhealthy skin not only has a physical component but also psychological and emotional. Due to these attributes it’s important that one receives care for this disease, especially for the younger population.
