What we’re using...

...to fight off mosquitoes

This past Saturday, I paid a visit to Kooyman to get some of my gardening necessities and seeds of course (I’ll pick up seeds from anywhere). A soon as we walked in, Kooyman staffers were giving a demonstration on the In2Care Mosquito Trap. The ad in last week’s Health & Beauty really caught our attention and we were more than happy to see the demonstration, you can also see a demonstration on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9j--fiuLp54

We set it up in the shade under a stored chair in a corner on our deck as it shouldn’t be set in direct sunlight. We also preferred to put it in a space that doesn’t get a lot of wind, a location where mosquitoes are very likely to show up, it’s also an area near a lot of plants and grass.
The mosquito gets contaminated with the insecticide and will be killed, but her larvae will also be killed by the larvaecide. No new mosquitoes will emerge from the trap. The contaminated mosquito flies out to other locations to lay more eggs, but when she contacts the water, the larvaecide on her legs dissolves and contaminates the breeding sites; at every stop, she contaminates the water at the breeding site. One trap effectively covers an area of 400m2.
The In2Care Mosquito Trap is currently being sold to governments, pest control operators and consumers in over 25 countries in the Americas.

Registration processes in several other countries and regions are ongoing. In2Care has partnered with Ensystex and AustralAsian Biosecurity to enable trap distribution in Asia and the Pacific.
Pending full registration, the US-EPA has recently granted temporary approval for professional use of In2Care Mosquito Traps (via governments/CDC) in Zika-infested States of the US. This Section 18 Emergency Exemption allows the use of our traps against Zika-transmitting Aedes that are difficult to combat due to insecticide-resistance and cryptic breeding. Remember to stop by Kooyman to visit and find out more about the In2care mosquito trap. You can also visit /www.in2care.org and check out the YouTube video!
