Dad says eat your peas!
I don’t want them ’cause they’re green
Mom says eat your peas!
I don’t want them ’cause they’re minty,
They’re mean AND they’re green!
I don’t like peas,
They’re small, little green balls
Round and shrivelled
And they go squish in my mouth!
Mom sneaks them into everything!
I spy them in stews, in pasta, in my soup
And they are in my pockets!
Peas are in my pockets because
I put them there!
How else would I be allowed down
from the table if I did not hide them?
I used to drop them on the floor
For Fido to eat.
Mom caught me doing that!
Fido does not like peas
He just licks them!
Peas don’t like to sit on a fork
They roll off and fall on the floor
I can’t get them to my mouth!
Dad’s eyebrows go up
Dad says eat your peas!
Okay, I will!
But when I’m a grown-up, I will never eat peas again!
