Did you know that you can still mould a hard-boiled egg after it’s been cooked? You can make them heart-shaped with this cool trick. Why not try this on a Saturday morning for a family breakfast?
*Adult supervision required
You’ll Need:
* Eggs (one or two per person)
* 1 empty juice carton (or more if needed)
* Scissors
* Pens or chopsticks
* Rubber bands (two for each egg)
Instructions:
* Cut the empty juice carton: First cut off the top entirely, and then cut down along the height of the carton, about 2 inches away from the folds, on each side. The trick is this: you’ll use those right angles to cradle the eggs. You’ll need these folded carton pieces to be about 6 inches long, each. So, the number you need to cut depends on the number of eggs you need to shape.
* Have an adult place the eggs into boiling, salted water and cook for 10 minutes.
* Have the adult drain the eggs and rinse them in cold water. Peel, carefully but quickly. They should still be warm for the next step.
* Now place the peeled eggs at the middle of the strips of carton that you cut earlier.
* Place a chopstick or pen down the middle of the egg, and then attach it to the carton with a rubber band on each side.
* Once you’ve secured the eggs, place them in the fridge to set for about 15 minutes.
* Remove the eggs and serve! You’ll see the heart shape best when you cut them down the middle.
