KIDS can DOET too!

KIDS can DOET too!

During the past weekend, there was a flurry of activity all over St. Maarten and Saba, with volunteers rolling up their sleeves and making a difference with all sorts of different projects. And it wasn’t just the adults… kids helped along and made a difference too! From painting murals, to gardening, cooking meals, and cleaning the environment, there were lots of projects to choose from.

The yearly DOET events are always an exciting time, where we get to help others, improve our surroundings, learn new skills, and make new friends.

This year, more than 1,000 volunteers in St. Maarten took part in 98 different projects, and around 400 volunteers in Saba took part in 18 projects. Another five projects that had to be postponed in Saba will still take place within the coming month. Organisers on both islands are very happy with the turnout!

A yearly initiative of the Oranje Fonds, DOET takes place on the same weekend, all across the Dutch Kingdom: The Netherlands, St. Maarten, Saba, Statia, Curaçao, Aruba and Bonaire. This year, however, STATIA DOET and CURA DOET were postponed until May. SXM DOET is managed in St. Maarten by Be The Change Foundation, and in Saba by the Saba Lion’s Club.
