Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix visited St. Maarten and Saba last week, and learned all about the remarkable conservation and restoration work led by local organisations. The Princess took part in lots of activities focused on nature and education on the two islands.
Nature Foundation Sint Maarten was the main guide for the royal visit in St. Maarten, and Saba Conservation Foundation hosted her in Saba – both fall under the Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance (DCNA). We know the DCNA from their youth magazine BioNews Kids, which we’ve shared news on many times here at The Kids Herald. On both islands, school children and teens were also part of the programme and had the opportunity to share stories, knowledge and experiences, and meet the princess in person! Here are a few glimpses of kids meeting the Princess.
So that you know: Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix was Queen of the Netherlands for 33 years, starting in 1980. On April 30, 2013, she was succeeded by her eldest son, King Willem-Alexander. She was the first child of Princess Juliana and Prince Bernhard.
