Make washing hands more fun, especially for the little ones, by making soap with toys inside! Any small, plastic toy without sharp edges will do. The more often you wash your hands, the closer you get to the prize!
Adult supervision is required; let an adult handle the microwave and knife.
You’ll need
- Clear glycerine soap blocks (or you can reuse glycerine soap you already have)
- Small toys
- Just a few drops of essential oil (optional)
- Silicone cupcake liners (or other silicone mould)
- Food colouring
- Rubbing alcohol in a small spray bottle (optional)
- Microwave
Instructions
- Cut the glycerine soap into small cubes. This will let them melt faster.
- Put the cubes into a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 15 seconds, stir with a spoon and repeat until cubes are completely melted. It should take about a minute in total.
- If you have an essential oil that you like the smell of, you can add it now. Add only a few drops. You can also add a few drops of food colouring. These are both totally optional. Swirl to mix.
- Now fill your moulds with the liquid, just under halfway. You can pour, or use a big spoon if needed. Use only half of your liquid soap at this stage. The number of soap shapes you’ll get depends on the size of the moulds.
- If small bubbles form, you can spray on a little rubbing alcohol.
- Place the moulds into the freezer for about 10-15 minutes. Then remove from the freezer and place the toys into the moulds.
- Pour the remaining glycerine onto the top halves. Once again, if bubbles form, spray on a little rubbing alcohol. Pop them back in the freezer to set for 15 minutes. Then just pop them out of the moulds and you have the final product!
