Students benefit from hands-on experience

Mrs. Amissa President transformed her Grade 5 classroom into a musical theater. Every year she designs her classroom around a different theme, to create an environment filled with enthusiasm for learning.

Due to the tremendous amount of musical talent my students have this year, I have decided upon a theme that embodies their personalities and abilities. Mrs. Amissa President has been in contact with Ryan Johnson, a professional in the field of Performing Arts. Ryan Johnson is well known for his performance in the Broadway Musical, Stomp, and has also performed in the popular theatrical performance, Cirque du Soleil.

Mr. Johnson has kindly agreed to visit the Grade 5 students of Learning Unlimited Preparatory School and give an informative week-long workshop on performing arts, specifically, “The Art of Stepping.”  Stepping is not commonly known, practiced, or taught here on the island.

Presentations of what has been taught to the students will be exhibited during the St. Maarten’s Day assembly on November 10, 2015.
