Here’s a different take on making some yummy cookies, one that does not involve baking! You will, however, need to practice some skill and patience so that the cookies set up properly. That means following instructions and, most importantly, leaving them to firm up for about an hour.
Note that the recipe calls for quick-cooking oats and not rolled oats. If you only have rolled oats, ask an adult to pulse them in a blender to make them a little smaller.
Let’s get started!
*Adult supervision required. Let an adult handle the stove.
You’ll need
Yield: about 16 cookies
1 cup white sugar
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup milk
1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 1/2 cups quick-cooking oats
Instructions
Add sugar, butter, and milk to a large saucepan, and cook over a medium heat.
Bring to a rapid boil, and then let it boil for one full minute (use a timer if you have one).
Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla and peanut butter.
Mix in the oats and stir very well.
Once cool enough to handle, use two spoons to drop batter onto a cookie sheet lined with wax paper.
Let the cookies cool until set, about an hour.
