Reserve your spot for the World Animal Day Wine Party at the Amsterdam Cheese and Liquor Store on Saturday, October 1, from 5:00 to 7:30pm. For only $35 per person, you’ll enjoy unlimited wine/beer and snacks and, most importantly, you’ll support the island’s animals as all proceeds will go towards Animal Welfare Foundation’s sterilization campaign. Wine, cheese and animals – what more could we ask for?
The Wine Party will include unlimited wine from the Amsterdam Cheese and Liquor Store, or Heineken beers for the non-wine drinkers, and a large assortment of cheese platters. Attendees will also be able to win great raffle prizes such as free large pizzas from Domino’s, dinner for two at Dinghy Dock and The Greenhouse, a big cheese basket from New Amsterdam Cheese Shop and – here comes the best part – one hundred percent on the funds raised will go towards Animal Welfare’s spay/neuter programme.
The foundation offers low-cost or free sterilizations for the island’s pets. “We believe that the way to stop the cycle of unwanted puppies and kittens is to sterilize pets, and to also educate people on responsible pet ownership, which definitely includes sterilization,” says President Heather Caputo of Animal Welfare. The foundation is fully run by volunteers with no payroll, so the funds will be used to break the cycle of unwanted animals being born, to later roam the streets, Caputo explains.
Amsterdam Cheese and Liquor Store has donated cheese to many Animal Welfare fundraisers and it is the second time that they are hosting this event in their store. “This is one way we can give back, and why not to a group that means well for animals?” says owner Etienne Roger.
The event will take place at the store on Juancho Yrausquin Blvd 26, Philipsburg. For more information and reservations, please contact Etienne at +1 (721) 520-1944. We hope to see you there so we can drink to the animals!
