Dine - The Harbor

~ Make your memories here ~

So we took the family out for an early dinner and we were super delighted with the service at The Harbor. We got quite a bit of attention and felt very cared for, plus it’s such a kid-friendly place – our waiters were playful and so much fun with the kids that we really thought, “Hey, this is a place we can frequent!”

At first sight from the street, the Harbor doesn’t appear that large, but it is. It is so roomy with so much seating both indoors and out, in an open air atmosphere. The décor is fun and interesting but it’s also neat. There is live music on many nights and, although we were quite early, there was a guy starting up on the keyboard by the time we were getting ready to leave.

The bar was busy and the vibe is very positive and fun in there. But on to what a dine review is all about: food. We decided on a small Onion Soup with Cognac for me and the Bread Basket for the others. I decided on “small” because I always end up getting full on soup and then am not able to really enjoy my main. The soup was plenty good, and nice and tiny (you can order it in small or large) with two baguette slices topped with melted Swiss cheese. It was DELICIOUS with its browned chunks of caramelized onions.

The Bread Basket came with lots of slices of fresh baguette and two dippings – aioli and garlic/parsley butter. Oh my goodness! Lucky for my companions, I had already had most of my soup when I tried the sauces.

On to mains, the Linguine Romanoff from the vegetarian options looked really good with its description of creamy tomato with cognac sauce, there were chunks of zucchini in there as well and I just had to order it with a side of the garlic potatoes. It sounded like a great idea. Well, I had no idea the portions would be so generous and I’m thankful it was, because I knew I could enjoy the rest of it the following day.

Really, two people can eat from this delicious, creamy and satisfying plate. A Cowboy Burger (with cheddar cheese, crispy onion rings, bacon, nachos, lettuce and coleslaw) was also ordered and enjoyed. It was one heck of a presentation, with colourful nachos and veggies, the burger patty was all stacked and held together – it was impressive and came with fries and pink coleslaw.

I love the large, fun and varying space(s), the fact that there’s live music every night, the awesome service, and the nicely presented plates. Oh yes! I forgot something very important: Dessert! We had the homemade Apple Crumble Pie (yumm!) – easily shared between two persons – and the (surprise) Sorbet with whipped cream, which kids love. It came with tiny pieces of apple and I think even peaches.

What a nice finish, what a nice place! It’s fun for kids; they get to grab a toy from the “Treasure Chest” when you order both a kids plate AND kids dessert. So cool!

The Harbor is a great place to watch sports and hang out at the very cool bar at the entrance. You can also take it easy at the bar at the back as well, if you are stopping in for a drink. Live entertainment every night and it’s on the lagoon, nice view of course with great food and lots of fun for the kids.
