Healthy and Happy
~ Top Carrot never disappoints ~
If you’re a fan of eating out while staying health-conscious and you know the island at all, then you surely know about Top Carrot. This breakfast and lunch spot is so popular that many people eat there several times a week, every week! The place never disappoints, and the bright interior design and friendly staff just serve to reinforce the feeling of peace and contentment that is the signature style of Top Carrot.
I dropped by twice last week for lunch with friends, and even did a little impromptu shopping in their retail area which includes books, jewellery, clothing, yoga mats, natural beauty products and many interesting small items – all displayed with artistic, even spiritual, design.
In fact, vibrant creativity is notable in every aspect of the restaurant’s efforts. Each person at Top Carrot – from owners Lydia and Peter, to waitresses and cooks – is invested in promoting healthy lifestyles and creating positivity. Suffice it to say that it’s a very special place and we are quite lucky to have this kind of business in our community.
So about my dining experiences: The fruit and kashi with yogurt is a real go-to order for me, because the yogurt is unlike any I have ever had – it’s homemade with Bulgarian cultures – not that I know what that means, other than it tastes amazing, especially with a drizzle of maple syrup. Since the lunch was really more of a brunch, I decided to have the fruit-kashi-yogurt which I must say was very filling. A nice cappuccino accompanied and I was good to go for the day!
My other regular order at Top Carrot is their famous quiche, which they almost always run out of by 1:00pm – yes, it’s that good! It’s a generous serving of quiche filled with veggies to the point that it’s not eggy at all, and it’s served with a lovely fresh salad, whole wheat French bread and yummy grilled plantain wedges. The photo shows that I ate most of my lunch before remembering to take the photo for this article – a sign of either my hunger or my forgetfulness – but also of the food’s deliciousness.
If you are looking for the perfect breakfast or lunch place to keep balance in your life, call your friends and arrange to meet at Top Carrot. In fact, pick a day and make it a regular weekly habit – life is too short to eat sandwiches at your desk day in and day out. Get out of the office and go for the quiche!
