Escape the Spooky Raven Woods

Escape the Spooky Raven Woods

@ Dutch Blonde’s Enthralling Escape Rooms

Looking for a unique and exciting Spooktober activity? Look no further. The Out N About has tested Dutch Blonde’s scary and equally entertaining escape room, and in our opinion, it is the perfect activity to celebrate the remainder of spooky season! If you dare, grab some of your smartest and bravest friends and see if you can escape the “What Happened in Raven Woods” room in 60 minutes, by finding out what happened during a creepy camping trip. Laughs, thrills and chills guaranteed!

Dutch Blonde Beach Bar is the first to bring escape rooms to our shores – and to the Caribbean in general. Escape rooms are all the rage in other parts of the world – offering participants an engaging activity that is essentially a group puzzle organised in a themed room. To escape, one must find all the clues, open all the locks, solve all the riddles and puzzles and discover the room’s narrative. Dutch Blonde Beach Bar offers four different escape rooms, but of course, we opted for the spookiest one in honour of the upcoming Halloween weekend!

What Happened in Raven Woods

Before entering the escape room, your group will receive one or two flashlights, depending on the preferred difficulty. When entering the complete darkness, you’ll hear the following:

It was a dark and stormy night. Suddenly, you hear a scream. After the shock fades, you notice someone is missing. Where’s Alex? What was that scream? What happened in Raven Woods?

Flashlight in hand, it is now up to you to find the clues, maps, notes and keys to find out what happened to Alex, and more importantly, to escape the room and all its spookiness. We won’t spoil the fun by telling you more, but one thing we will say: Get ready to experience the most fun and most thrills you have had in a while.

Sounds too scary for you? Don’t fret; Dutch Blonde also offers three other escape rooms, all with a thrilling theme and lots to discover in order to escape:

Blackbeard’s Brig

In this story, you were captured by the evil pirate Blackbeard. He may be planning to sell you off or keep you as entertainment for his men. Fortunately, he and his crew have gone ashore to pillage and plunder another village, leaving you unattended to ponder your fate. Will you sit and accept this or try to escape? You have 60 minutes to act, or you walk the plank!

The Lucky Duck Speakeasy

Travel back to 1925 in this escape room – with prohibition in full swing. You have been leading the crackdown on illegal sales and other nefarious activities. The evidence you need to identify the kingpin of this criminal organization is contained within the infamous Lucky Duck Speakeasy. A bomb has been set to destroy the building and its secrets. You have 60 minutes to save yourselves, and the city.

Lost Jewel of Zanzibar

In this escape room, it is 1930. Your colleague, Magnus Ferguson, has been exploring throughout Africa searching for antiquities. He has made a wondrous discovery, but it is in danger of falling into the hands of a ruthless and dishonest warlord. Magnus has hidden the jewel in his camp and left clues that only YOU will be able to interpret. You have 60 minutes before the warlord reaches the camp to steal the gem.

Whether you can escape or not, all that thinking will probably make you hungry and thirsty. Thankfully, the friendly staff will let you out anyway, and Dutch Blonde Beach Bar’s delicious food and drinks will await you.

Dutch Blonde’s craft beer bar with locally brewed craft beer, as well as their full-service restaurant overlooking Great Bay Beach, allows for a complete experience. Try their Dutch pancakes under an iconic Dutch windmill or sip on a locally crafted Dutch Blonde beer on one of their famous bar swings.

After escaping the Raven Woods just in time, we watched a glorious sunset and discussed our little adventure while waiting for the best fish tacos we’ve had in a long time. One thing is certain: we’ll be back for more Dutch Blonde experiences!
