Tropical Night Fundraising Dance

There’s no better way to spend a weekend on a tropical island like St. Maarten, than attending a “Tropical Night” party like the one being organized by Rambaud St. Louis Fete Association for this Saturday, October 17.

The Tropical Night dance is the latest activity being held by the association to raise funds to purchase a new wheelchair accessible bus for the senior citizens of Bethany Home in French St. Martin.

Tropical Night will be held on Boardwalk Boulevard in the vicinity of Caribbean Blend Restaurant from 8:00pm until the last partygoer leaves.

St. Maarten’s very own Control Band will be in the house to entertain partygoers with their talented sounds. Deejay Hildo (former police officer) will also be there to spin some nice sounds on the turntables.

Walk with empty stomachs because there will be lots to eat and drink, including Caribbean Blend’s specialty ribs, soup, chicken, conch and goat meat. There will be an assortment of drinks, wine, beers and mixed drinks available.

The dress code will be Caribbean fun and tropical: so colourful tops and your favourite jeans would be a perfect ensemble to rock the night away in.

Association President Etienne Andrew said 350 tickets have been purchased and the Association is hoping to raise at least US $3,500 to go towards the purchase of the bus, which costs €60,000. It will cost an additional €3,970 to ship it from France to St. Martin.

The Association already has $42,000-43,000 since it began its fundraising earlier this year. The bus will be able to accommodate 12 wheelchair-accessible clients at a time. Andrew said this will be the first bus of its kind for the home, noting “this is why it’s so special for us.”

Andrew encourages patrons to bring along a friend or family member or two to enjoy the evening out while supporting a worthy cause.

Tickets cost $10 per person and are available from any member of the Association or at Caribbean Blend on the night of the event.
