~ With the party at heart ~
Look for new St. Maarten artist Ishmael Hodge on the stage with WCK from Dominica at Carnival’s music venue. The young singer/songwriter is developing a reputation as the hot new sound in bouyon. Bouyon is a new style of music that mixes up aspects of dancehall, reggae, soca and hip hop – it’s all about cultural vibes.
Ishmael sings with the party at heart and is getting good playtime on many radio stations. Listen to him on YouTube. Type in DJ Cashmoney 767, or catch his tune on PJD-2, SOS Radio, Tropix 105.5 and Youth Radio. The song is even being aired on radio stations in Trinidad, St. Lucia, Dominica, Texas, Atlanta and Miami!
For carnival Ishmael is excited to perform with one of his inspirations, the band WCK from Dominica. Another of his inspiration is Asa Banton, also from Dominica. The new tune was recorded at Giants Recording Studio in South Reward.
With such success under his belt, the young artist is looking forward to doing more shows and going on a tour. “I have a project going with Orange Grove,” he told Out ‘n About. “It’s gonna be more of a reggae vibe for Europe.”
The carnival show is tentatively scheduled for April 16, but that might change. Once it’s confirmed, check Ishmael’s Facebook page to save the date! Facebook knows him as Junior Hodge, by the way.
