KES Gourmet Food Fun

Have you ever been scrolling through your social media feeds and having braingasms over the food porn you see everywhere? If you’re a human, who has used any form of electronic, you know this feeling. Being on St. Maarten and wanderlusting after this kind of food can be almost painful, and not in the good way.

When I met Kevin Stephens, owner of the new food truck, KES Gourmet Food Fun, he sold me on the dream of attaining those delectable internet treasures. He spun images of all sorts of food I could only imagine in my head. Waffle cones full of what? Chicken, you said? And milkshakes piled high with what? Was that candy and cookies and scoops of ice cream? Hmm.

Of course, this couldn’t be real. “The food gods would never allow me to have this,” I thought. Where in St. Maarten could this be possible? What sorcery is this? The images of the inside dwarfed the large man in front of me and in an instant, things got real. The pictures he showed me were images of the truck, a behemoth solid enough to house multiple large food servers and chefs alike. It was black, red and white, solid colours, and brandished with a pelican logo that proudly professed St. Martin.

I was forced to wait a few weeks, and as those minutes, hours and days passed, I could almost taste the food in my head. There is almost no reason for me to cross the border to go to the French side, but the night of the opening, I strapped myself into my car and sped over there. Great! There already was a line waiting. As I stood with fellow foodies and people generally curious about this new creation, there was an unmistakable air of anticipation. It’s been a long time since I stood in line for food, but I wasn’t disappointed when they opened and began serving customers.

Nothing more will be said about the amazing food experience. I’m telling you to go on your own and have them change your life. This is not a drill, people. The future of food is here and it goes by the name “KES Gourmet Food Fun”. The name is a mouthful, but so is the food they’re serving. I hope my trainer doesn’t hate me after I keep sneaking late-night snacks at this truck. Enjoy the pictures, but instead of eating your heart out; how about you try to actually taste it for once?

Make sure to follow KES on facebook.com/Kes-Gourmet-Fun-Food. Opening hours: 6:00pm – 12:00am. Look out for them in the very near future to be in Simpson Bay on Fridays and Saturdays from 12:00am to 6:00am for anyone who loves late-night snacking.
