blackIUp makeup brand sponsors Miss India St. Maarten

Available exclusively at Vanity First Perfumeries in St. Maarten and designed and created for women of colour, blackIUp makeup brand is on board as a sponsor for Miss India St. Maarten delegate Neha Gidwani, who recently did a makeover at the store on Front Street.

Gidwani will represent her island at the international pageant on October 9, in New Jersey. She decided to contest the pageant because she believes it will be a great experience to meet new people and see how international pageants can change a person. She’s been busy preparing for the pageant over the last months by training for her talent which is an Indian classical dance. She has also learned how to do professional makeup.

Should she win, the long-legged beauty plans to continue focussing on helping persons in need, including persons who are mentally challenged, senior citizens and victims of poverty. “I personally feel that from the perspective of a pageant contestant, I would like to help young girls and women feel better about themselves. Oftentimes, young girls and women feel that they aren’t good enough to compete in pageants like these due to low self-esteem. I want to bring about the fact that everyone is beautiful and intelligent in their own way. No one should feel like they're less than another because of a position someone else has attained. Everyone is capable.”

Gidwani currently serves as President of St. Dominic High’s Interact Club and Assistant Secretary of St. Maarten Alpha Leo Club. Her career goal is to become an architect because she enjoys sketching and anything that has to do with visual arts. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, dancing and sketching, as well as travelling to new places and experiencing different cultures and nature.

Miss India Worldwide Pageant is celebrating its Silver Anniversary this year. To mark 25 years since it all began, organisers decided to hold the event in the founding country USA. Contestants arrive on Monday, October 3, and depart on Monday, October 10. The Grand Finale at the Royal Albert Palace, Fords, New Jersey, will be on Sunday, October 9, at 4:00pm.

There will be exciting six days for all the official worldwide contestants. Highlights include a visit to Atlantic City; JFK Hospital in Edison to distribute toys to children; dinner cruise in Manhattan; popular talent night on October 6; dinner for the delegates hosted by TV Asia and the Grand Finale reception.

Some of the Bollywood and TV celebrities who will be attending include Rithvik Dhanjani, popular TV actor and host; Nia Sharma - TV actor, lead actor of Jamai Raja as Roshni on ZEE TV; Sandeep Soparrkar, Ace dance and fashion choreographer and Deepak Chopra, the Creative Director of various entertainment channels in India.

The winner will receive a cash prize of US $8,000 by IFC on the successful completion of her reign. She will travel as a special guest with all expenses paid to various national pageants and will receive various sponsored gifts like jewellery, watch, electronic items, gift certificates, screen tests, picture portfolio and modelling assignments.

The Sai Trishul Foundation selected Gidwani earlier this year as the St. Maarten delegate. Organisers are Hanisha Alwani, Nita Nandwani, Anita Advani, Laisha Baharani, Angeli Khemchandani and Simran Bharwani.
