Capture ‘The Spirit of St. Martin’ for Heritage photo contest
“The Spirit of St. Martin” is the main theme of the 2016 Heritage Photo Contest.
Coordinators say the Contest and Exhibition is an opportunity to showcase St. Martin/St. Maarten’s “unique natural, cultural and historic heritage.”
Competing photographers have to share photos that showcase something that captures the unique spirit of St. Martin and its people, nature, culture or history for the contest.
Entries for this year should include a photo and a statement by the competing photographer, explaining how the photo represents the spirit of the island.
Coordinators say entries should be submitted from May 1 to May 31, but the photos could have been taken anytime. The photos and statement must be the work of the entrant.
Qualifying entries will be displayed online in Heritage Gallery and an exhibition will be held in the summer featuring selected entries. There will be awards for the winning entries in three categories: Adult, Under 18 and People’s Choice. Prizes will be announced during the entry period.
Individuals can submit multiple entries. The interpretation of The Spirit of St. Martin is left to the entrant, but entries that disparage specific individuals or groups of people will not be accepted. Contest/exhibition managers reserve the right to refuse entries that are inappropriate, incomplete or unrelated to the theme. As many entries as possible will be included in the exhibition, based on the final budget and space. Inclusion in the exhibition is not guaranteed.
This contest and exhibition initiative is created and managed by Les Fruits de Mer Association.
